Scalloped Cabbage

This dish has a pleasing texture; soft cabbage and cream sauce with crisp buttered crumbs on top.
INGREDIENTS
2 pounds cabbage, cut into 8 wedges
1-1/2 cups White Sauce
1 cup buttered bread crumbsPreheat the oven to 400 degrees. Butter a 1-1/2 quart casserole.
Fill a large pot with salted water, and bring to a boil. Add the cabbage and boil for 6 to 8 minutes; drain and trim away the tough core.
Coarsely chop the cabbage and put it into the prepared casserole. Spoon the White Sauce over it and sprinkle with the crumbs on top. Bake for 20 minutes.
Makes 6 servings
