Candy Apple Pie

INGREDIENTS 3 cups apples, peeled and sliced
2 tablespoons lime juice
¾ cup sugar
¼ cup flour
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
¼ teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
One 9-inch recipe for double crust pieToss apples with lime juice in a large bowl. Combine sugar, flour, cinnamon, and salt. Add to apples and toss to coat. Set aside.
Place bottom pastry in pie plate. Fill with the apple mixture and dot with 2 tablespoons butter. Cover with top crust. Flute edges and cut steam vents. Bake as directed or until apples test done when pierced with a fork.
Bake in preheated 400 degree oven for 40 to 45 minutes.
TOPPING
¼ cup butter or margarine
½ cup brown sugar, packed
2 tablespoons heavy cream
½ cup chopped pecansBring first 3 ingredients to a boil, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and stir in pecans. Pour over top crust. Return pie to oven and bake 3 or 4 minutes or until topping is bubbly.
