Apple Cream Pie

INGREDIENTS

CRUST

1-1/8 cups flour
½ teaspoon salt
6 tablespoons shortening
1/8 cup cold milk

FILLING

1 large egg, beaten
½ cup water
½ cup sugar
½ cup heavy cream
5 apples, peeled and quartered

FOR CRUST - Sift flour and salt together. Cut in shortening until pieces are size of peas. Slowly add milk, stirring with fork until all ingredients are moistened. Gather into a ball and roll out on a lightly floured board. Place in a 9-inch pie plate and set aside.

FILLING - Cook apples in a saucepan with the sugar until tender. Remove apples with a slotted spoon and place in crust. Beat egg, sugar, and cream until light and add apple cooking liquid. Pour over apples.

Bake in 350 degree oven for 25 minutes or until custard is set.
