Tiny Hamburgers

INGREDIENTS 1/2 pound freshly ground round steak
Salt and pepper, to taste
Ketchup
Raw onion
TriscuitsPreheat broiler.
The most important thing is to get your butcher to put your 1/2 pound round steak twice through the grinder, and not to give you some of the meat that has been ground for hours and left standing in the pan awaiting some disinterested customer. It must be freshly ground. Having said that, season well with salt and pepper.
Spread the meat on Triscuits and pop them under the broiler until well browned. Garnish each with a tiny blob of ketchup. Serve with or without onion as preferred. Or the meat may be simply spread on the Triscuits, garnished with a small bit of raw onion, and served as is.
In either case these are guaranteed to disappear!
NOTE: I have had this recipe many years, and at the time there wasn't a concern about raw ground beef. The scare is about beef that has already been ground. In this case, you are buying beef and having it freshly ground. I use sirloin for this recipe, it doesn't take much, and grind it myself, so that I am ensured of nothing being in my ground beef that is harmful. The choice is yours.
