Ham Steak From Virginia

INGREDIENTS

1 large thick slice smoked ham
2 ounces butter
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1/2 cup sherry
1 teaspoon flour
2 tablespoons water

Brown 1 large thick slice smoked ham in 2 ounces butter until brown on both sides. Remove to platter.

Put 2 tablespoons brown sugar and 1/2 cup sherry into skillet in which ham was browned. Melt sugar in wine over low heat. Mix 1 teaspoon flour with 2 tablespoons water. Add to sauce and let cook slowly until slightly thickened, stirring constantly.

Place ham in the sauce and let simmer about 5 minutes on each side.
