INGREDIENTS

THE BASE

1/2 pound Swiss cheese
1/4 pound soft butter
Small amount of cream

Grate the Swiss cheese on finest grater.

Cream the grated cheese with 1/4 pound soft butter until well blended. Add just enough cream to make a paste of firm consistency.

NOTE: This base may be used for sandwiches or for cocktail appetizers. Odd and interesting effects may be obtained by adding different ingredients to suit different tastes. Any one of the following ingredients is an excellent addition to the base:

Chopped raw onion
Minced chives
Minced parsley
Chopped celery
Chopped olives
Chopped pimientos
Chopped cooked mushrooms
Chopped nuts
Anchovy paste
Creamed liverwurst
Chopped ham
