INGREDIENTS 1 Virginia ham
1 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons molasses
1-1/2 cups bread crumbs
Whole clovesScrub 1 Virginia ham on top and bottom. Place in a large roasting pan and cover with water. Let soak all night.
Next morning, wash ham in cold water. Then place in roasting pan, skin side down, and cover with fresh cold water and bring to a boil on low heat. Cook until done or until bottom bone comes off by itself. Let soak overnight again, this time in the juice in which it was cooked.
Next morning, pull off the skin and cut away any excess fat. Mix 1 cup brown sugar with 2 tablespoons molasses. Rub this mixture over the ham "good and thick." Put 1-1/2 cups bread crumbs on top of the ham, and stick with whole cloves. Bake in a 275 degree oven until brown and crust has formed.
