INGREDIENTS

1 egg
1 cup thick sour cream
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup sugar
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 cups apples, chopped
1 unbaked pie shell

TOPPING

1/2 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup butter, chilled

In a large mixing bowl, beat the egg. Add the sour cream, vanilla, and salt; mix well.

In a separate bowl, combine the sugar and flour and add it to the sour cream mixture, beating well. Stir in the chopped apples.

Pour the filling into an unbaked pie shell. Bake in a 450 degree oven for 15 minutes, then reduce the heat to 350 degrees and continue baking for 30 minutes. Meanwhile, prepare the topping.

TOPPING - In a medium bowl, combine the brown sugar and flour. Cut in the butter with a pastry blender or a fork until the mixture is crumbly.

After the pie has baked for a total of 45 minutes, remove it from the oven and sprinkle on the topping. Return the pie to the oven and bake for 10 minutes more.
