Gooey Butter Cookies

INGREDIENTS

1 (18.25-ounce) box Butter Cake Mix
8-ounces cream cheese, softened
1 large egg
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
Confectioners' sugar, for coating

Beat together all ingredients, except confectioners' sugar, and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.

Roll into 1-inch balls, roll in confectioners' sugar, and arrange 1-inch apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.

Bake in a 350 degree oven for 10 to 12 minutes. Remove to racks and cool.

When cooled, sprinkle with additional confectioners' sugar.

Makes 2 dozen cookies
