Scalloped Potatoes

INGREDIENTS

2 tablespoons flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
3 tablespoons butter
2 cups milk
1 onion, sliced and separated into rings
4 to 5 medium-large potatoes, sliced very thinly

Blend flour and seasonings into melted butter, remove from heat, then gradually stir in milk and return to stovetop. Heat over medium-high heat and stir constantly with a whisk until thickened. Remove from heat.

Layer half of the onions and potatoes in a large casserole dish. Pour half of sauce on top and continue to layer with remaining onions and potatoes. Add remaining sauce.

Bake in a 350 degree oven for about 1 hour, until browned and the potatoes are tender. Allow to stand for 10 minutes before serving.
