Crumb Cake

9-inch square pan OR 8 x 12-inch pan
Preheated oven - 375 degrees
Baking time - 30 minutes

INGREDIENTS

2 cups brown sugar
2 cups all-purpose flour, sifted before measuring
1/2 cup butter
1 egg, well beaten
1 cup sour milk
1 teaspoon soda
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon cloves
1/4 teaspoon allspice
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

Mix brown sugar, flour and butter together until crumbly, as for pie crust. Divide crumbs in half.

Add the well-beaten egg, milk, soda and spices to half the mixture. Pour batter into greased and floured cake pan. Sprinkle remaining crumbs on top of batter and bake. Serve from pan.
