Cheesy Garlic Bread

An old standby gets a double cheesy makeover with mozzarella and Parmesan.

INGREDIENTS

1 large loaf Italian bread
4 tablespoons butter or margarine, softened
1/3 cup grated mozzarella cheese
4 cloves garlic, chopped
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon dried parsley
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cut loaf in half lengthwise. Spread each bread half with softened butter. Sprinkle mozzarella and chopped garlic evenly over each bread half.

In a small bowl, mix Parmesan, basil, parsley, and red pepper flakes. Sprinkle herb mixture over top of bread.

Place bread halves on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake until cheese is melted and bread is golden, about 15 minutes. Let cool slightly. Cut bread into 1-inch slices. Serve immediately.
