Fudge Pudding

Assemble this fudge pudding and let it bake while you prepare the rest of the meal, or make and refrigerate it a few hours ahead of time.
INGREDIENTS
1/2 cup unsifted all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa
1/4 cup milk
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
1/3 cup firmly packed light or dark brown sugar
3/4 cup hot water
1 cup heavy cream, whipped (optional)Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, granulated sugar, and 2 tablespoons of the cocoa. Stir in the milk, oil, and walnuts. Spread the mixture into a greased 9-inch deep-dish pie plate.
In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar with the remaining 2 tablespoons of cocoa and sprinkle over the top. Pour the hot water evenly over the mixture. Bake, uncovered, for 30 minutes. Serve hot, warm, or cold with the whipped cream, if desired.
