Print This Recipe
If you don't care for the strong flavor of rosemary, use chopped basil mixed with the parsley, it has a milder flavor.
INGREDIENTS
1 (1-pound) loaf unsliced French bread
1/2 cup butter, softened
2 tablespoons chopped fresh or 2 teaspoons dried rosemary leaves
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley or 1 teaspoon parsley flakes
1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon garlic powderHeat coals or gas grill for direct heat. Cut bread loaf into 1-inch slices without cutting through bottom of loaf. Mix remaining ingredients; spread on both sides of bread slices. Wrap bread loaf in heavy-duty aluminum foil.
Cover and grill bread 5 to 6 inches from medium heat, 10 to 15 minutes, turning once, until hot.
Makes 12 servings (1 slice each)
NOTE - If you would prefer to bake rather than grill this bread, no problem. Heat oven to 400 degrees and prepare bread as directed in the recipe. Wrap the bread in aluminum foil, and bake about 15 minutes, or until hot. It's just as delicious and elimates the use of your grill.
