Fresh-Tomato Sauce

INGREDIENTS

1 cup chopped onion
1 medium clove garlic
1/4 cup olive or salad oil
3 large tomatoes, peeled and chopped, 1-1/2 pounds
1/4 cup canned tomato sauce
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon dried basil leaves
1/4 teaspoon pepper

In medium saucepan, sauté onion and garlic over medium heat in hot oil until onion is golden, about 5 minutes.

Add tomato, tomato sauce, salt, basil, and pepper. Simmer, covered, 10 minutes.
