Buttery Mashed Turnips

INGREDIENTS 2 yellow turnips, about 2-1/2 to 3 pounds, pared, cut in small pieces for quick cooking
3 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon warm heavy cream
1 teaspoon salt
Generous sprinkling of freshly ground black pepperAdd turnip pieces to 1-inch boiling water in a large, heavy saucepan. Cover saucepan and cook turnips for 20 to 25 minutes, or until tender. Drain turnips and throughly mash with butter and cream.
Season mashed turnips with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste, and serve immediately.
