Broccoli Salad Appetizer

INGREDIENTS 2 large ripe tomatoes, coarsely chopped
2 large cloves garlic, minced
1 small green pepper, minced
2 green onions, with tops, cut in 1-inch pieces
1/3 cup olive oil
1 tablespoon wine vinegar
1 teaspoon salt
Generous sprinkling of freshly ground black pepper
1 large head of cooked broccoli, flowerets separated, and stalks cut in 1-inch piecesPut tomatoes, garlic, green pepper, and green onions in a glass or pottery salad bowl.
In another small bowl thoroughly mix olive oil, vinegar, salt, and pepper. Pour oil-and-vinegar mixture over vegetables and let stand for 2 to 3 hours, stirring occasionally. Add broccoli and toss salad lightly but well before serving.
