Baked Crab Fondue

INGREDIENTS

4 slices white bread
2 tablespoons butter, softened
1 pound lump crabmeat
1 small pimiento, finely chopped
1 cup sharp Cheddar cheese, grated, separated
2 eggs
1/4 teaspoon dry mustard
1/2 teaspoon salt
1-1/3 cups half-and-half
Paprika
1/4 cup pimiento-stuffed olives, coarsely chopped, optional

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Butter bread on both sides and cut into cubes. Line the bottom of an 8 x 8-inch buttered baking pan with half the bread cubes. Cover bread cubes with crabmeat, pimiento, and 1/2 cup cheese.

Top crabmeat with remaining bread cubes and 1/2 cup cheese.

Whisk eggs with mustard, salt, and half-and-half in a small bowl until thoroughly blended. Pour egg mixture over all. Sprinkle with paprika, and bake for 45 minutes until firm. Sprinkle chopped olives, optional, over crabmeat and serve.
