Ham and Vegetable Strata

1 HOUR COOKING TIME INGREDIENTS
1 (10-½-ounce) can condensed Cream of Mushroom soup
2 beaten eggs
1-½ cups milk
4 slices bread, cut into 1-inch cubes
1-½ cups finely diced full cooked ham
1 cup peas
½ cup Sharp Process American Cheese, shredded
2 slices bread, spread with 1 tablespoon butterADVANCED PREPARATION
Combine soup and beaten eggs; stir in 1-½ cups milk.
Cut 4 slices bread into 1-inch cubes. Put half the cubes into a 9 x 9 x 2-inch baking dish. Top with the diced ham and cooked peas; sprinkle with remaining bread cubes. Pour soup mixture over. Cover, chill from 6 to 24 hours.
Spread 2 slices bread with butter; cut into ½-inch cubes. Wrap; chill.
BEFORE SERVING
Sprinkle buttered bread cubes on casserole. Bake at 325 degrees until set, 50 to 60 minutes. During last few minutes, top with ½ cup shredded cheese. Let stand 10 minutes before serving.
