Cheesy Crab Strata

1-¼ HOURS COOKING TIME

INGREDIENTS

6 slices bread
Prepared mustard
1   (7-½ ounce) can crab meat, drained, flaked, and shells removed, not imitation crab
¼ cup thinly sliced celery
1 tablespoon sliced green onion
4 ounces Sharp Process American Cheese, sliced
5 eggs
2-½ cups milk

ADVANCED PREPARATION

Lightly spread one side of bread with mustard. Cut slices in thirds. Arrange half of the bread, mustard side up, in greased 8 x 8 x 2-inch baking dish.

Combine crab, celery, onion; sprinkle over bread in dish. Top with cheese, then remaining bread, mustard side down.

Beat eggs, blend in milk and 1 teaspoon salt. Pour over bread; sprinkle with paprika, if desired. Cover, chill, 4 to 24 hours.

BEFORE SERVING

Bake at 325 degrees until knife inserted off-center comes out clean, about 1-¼ hours. Let stand 5 minutes.
