Old-Fashioned Pineapple Upside-Down Cake 2

INGREDIENTS

2 cans sliced pineapple, in heavy syrup
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1-1/2 cups brown sugar, packed
2/3 cup pecans
2 cups unsifted all-purpose flour
1-1/2 cups granulated sugar
2/3 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup milk
2 eggs
Maraschino cherries

Melt butter in pan and add brown sugar and stir together and spread evenly in pan. Place pineapple rings on top of brown sugar and butter mixture. Place pecan half or maraschino cherry in middle.

Cream shortening and sugar together. Add eggs, milk, and remaining dry ingredients. Pour over pineapple.

Bake at 325 degrees for 30 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.

Let cool about 5 minutes, then invert onto serving plate.
