Pennsylvania Dutch Green Beans

I found this recipe request from a very old Del Monte test kitchen recipe book. I am almost certain that this is the one that they were looking for.
INGREDIENTS
3 slices bacon
1 small onion, sliced
2 teaspoons cornstarch
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon dry mustard
1 (14.5-ounce) can Del Monte Blue Lake Cut Green Beans
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon vinegar
1 hard-cooked egg, choppedCook bacon in skillet until crisp; drain; crumble; reserve. Pour off all but 1 tablespoon of the bacon drippings. Add onion and sauté until tender. Blend in cornstarch, salt, and mustard. Drain beans, reserving 1/2 cup of liquid; stir reserved liquid into skillet.
Cook, stirring constantly, until thickened and bubbly; stir in sugar and vinegar. Add beans. Heat until bubbly hot. Sprinkle with crumbled bacon and egg.
Makes 4 servings
NOTE - These could probably be made with fresh green beans also, but when I tried the recipe, the canned beans worked fine.
