Simple Homemade Créme Fraiche

Créme Fraiche is a thickened cream with a slightly tangy flavor and an incredibly rich texture. It is the ideal addition to sauces or soups because it can be boiled without curdling and it is a delicious served with fresh fruit or on top of desserts in place of whipped cream.

INGREDIENTS

1 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup sour cream

Whisk together the heavy cream and sour cream and pour the mixture into a Mason jar. Cover the jar tightly with the lid and let it stand on the counter for 12 hours, or until thickened. When thick, stir the mixture wll and refrigerate until well chilled.

Makes 1-1/2 cups
