Bulgoki (Barbecue Beef)

INGREDIENTS

1 pound lean beef
1 tablespoon sugar
2-1/2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 clove garlic, finely chopped
2 medium green onions, chopped or sliced
1 teaspoon sesame seed, toasted and lightly pounded
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon sesame oil

Cut the beef against the grain in thin slices about 1/4-inch thick. Place the beef in a bowl. Add sugar; mix well. Let stand for 10 to 15 minutes.

Combine remaining ingredients and mix well. Marinate the meat for at least 15 minutes, longer is better and 2 hours is recommended), before cooking.

Grill on a charcoal fire or oven broil at 450 degrees about 1 minute on each side or until browned.
