Buttermilk Cornbread 2

The staple of almost every Southern meal!

INGREDIENTS

2 cups cornmeal
1 cup flour
2 teaspoons salt
3 tablespoons baking powder
1 large egg
2 to 3 cups buttermilk

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Mix together all ingredients. Pour into a preheated iron skillet and bake at 350 degrees until the top is golden brown.

Makes 6 servings

NOTE - A cast iron skillet will give your cornbread a thick, crisp crust.
