Baked Cottage Cheese Custard

3 eggs
1-1/2 cups milk
1 cup cream-style cottage cheese
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
Ground nutmeg
Cherry preserves or jamIn a medium mixing bowl lightly beat eggs. Stir in milk, cottage cheese, sugar, and vanilla. Beat with a rotary beater until combined.
Place six (6-ounce) custard cups in a 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan on a oven rack. Divide custard mixture among the custard cups. Sprinkle with nutmeg.
Pour boiling water into pan around custard cups to a depth of 1 inch. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 30 to 35 minutes or until a knife inserted near center comes out clean. Serve warm or chilled. Top with preserves or jam.
