Fudge Frosting

INGREDIENTS 24 large marshmallows, halved
2/3 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup vegetable shortening
1/2 cup water
5 cups sifted powdered sugar
3 teaspoons vanillaPlace marshmallows, chocolate, shortening and water in 1-1/2-quart saucepan. Cook over low heat until melted and smooth, stirring constantly. Remove from heat; let stand 5 minutes.
Gradually beat in sugar and vanilla with electric mixer at medium speed about 6 minutes or until mixture starts to lose gloss. Use frosting immediately.
Makes enough to fill and frost 2 (8-inch round or square cake layers) or frost 1 (13 x 9-inch) cake.
