Base Frosting

INGREDIENTS 3 cups powdered sugar, sifted
1/2 cup vegetable shortening
1/4 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Additional milkCombine sugar, shortening, 1/4 cup milk and vanilla in a large bowl. Beat with electric mixer on medium speed until smooth. Add more milk, 1 teaspoon at a time, until frosting is a thin consistency. Use frosting immediately.
Makes about 2 cups
