Gourmet Chocolate Chip Cookies

INGREDIENTS

2 cups butter, softened
2 cups granulated sugar
2 cups packed light brown sugar
4 large eggs, slightly beaten
2 teaspoons vanilla
4 cups all-purpose flour
5 cups dry oatmeal
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 teaspoons baking soda
24-ounces semisweet chocolate chips
1 (8-ounce) chocolate bar, grated
3 cups chopped walnuts

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Cream together the butter, sugar, and brown sugar in a large bowl. Add the eggs and vanilla.

Combine the flour, oatmeal, salt, baking powder and baking soda in a large bowl; mix well. Mix dry ingredients with the creamed mixture, blending well (batter will be stiff). Stir in the chocolate chips, grated chocolate bar and nuts.

Make golf ball-size dough pieces and place 2-inches apart on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake for 6 to 7 minutess. Remove to wire racks to cool. Store in an airtight container.

Makes 9 to 10 dozen
