Congo Bars

INGREDIENTS

2-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
2/3 cup butter or margarine
2 cups brown sugar, packed to measure
3 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly grease and flour a 9 x 13-inch baking pan. Sift together flour, salt, and baking powder. Set aside.

Melt butter. In a large mixing bowl combine melted butter and the brown sugar. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in 1 teaspoon vanilla. Add the flour mixture and the chocolate chips.

Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for about 22 minutes. Cool and cut into bars.
