Beef and Beans

INGREDIENTS

1 pound pinto beans, dried
6 cups cold water
1/2 pound salt pork, cut up
1 pound beef chuck steak, cut into 1-inch cubes
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes, crushed
1 onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
6 ounce can tomato paste
1-1/2 tablespoons chili powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cumin seed
1/2 teaspoon marjoram leaves

Soak beans in water overnight. Brown salt pork in skillet or in the crock pot if you have a browning unit.

Combine the soaked beans with water into the crock pot along with the browned salt pork and remaining ingredients. Cover and cook on LOW for 9 to 10 hours.
