If you have never eaten this casserole, now's your chance. I think it's supposed to be a side dish, but you can add chicken or ham to make a more substantial main course dish, if desired.
INGREDIENTS
1 package (32 ounces) frozen Southern-style hash browns (shredded)
2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
1 can (10-3/4 ounces) condensed cream of chicken soup, undiluted
2 cups (16 ounces) sour cream
3/4 cup butter or margarine, melted, divided
3 tablespoons chopped green onion, green part included
2 cups cornflakes, slightly crushedIn a large bowl, combine hash browns, cheese, soup, sour cream, 1/2 cup butter and onion. Spread into a greased 13 x 9-inch baking dish.
Combine cornflakes and remaining butter; sprinkle on top of casserole.
Bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees, for 50 to 60 minutes or until heated through.
Makes 8 to 10 servings
