My grandkids love cupcakes, and it seems to be what they always ask me for when they need something to contribute to a school party, or whatever.
Cupcakes are miniature cakes, usually buttercakes, and are a very very popular birthday food in the United States. The term 'cupcake' is first found in E. Leslie's 'Receipts Cookbook' of 1828. They can be made in all sorts of flavors from the same batter used to make cakes.
Baking Cupcakes from a Cake Recipe or Mix: Follow cupcake preparation directions in the recipe, but if the recipe does not have specific instructions, be aware that most cake recipes or mixes can be made into cupcakes.
