Classic Chewy Brownies

INGREDIENTS

7 tablespoons butter
4 ounces European bittersweet chocolate, such as Lindt or Tobler, broken up
3/4 cup sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup walnuts, toasted and coarsely chopped

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Line an 8-inch square pan with foil, letting ends extend above pan on 2 sides. Lightly grease foil in pan.

Melt butter and chocolate in a large bowl in microwave or medium-size saucepan over low heat. Stir until blended. Off heat, whisk in sugar, then eggs and vanilla. Stir in flour, then walnuts just until blended. Spread batter into prepared pan.

Bake 22 to 27 minutes until a pick inserted in center comes out with a moist crumb. Cool in pan on wire rack.

Lift foil by ends onto cutting board. Cut brownie in bars or squares.
