7-Layer Casserole

A recipe for liberated cooks, so quick and easy, developed long before cooks were liberated. So delicious it is one of the most popular ever from the Hunt-Wesson® kitchens.

INGREDIENTS

1 cup uncooked rice
1 (1-pound) can whole kernel corn, undrained
1 teaspoon seasoned salt
1/4 teaspoon seasoned pepper
1 beef bouillon cube
3/4 cup boiling water
1 (15-ounce) can Hunt's® Tomato Sauce with Tomato Bits
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon Italian Herb seasoning
1 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup each, chopped green pepper and celery
1 pound lean ground beef
1 cup shredded mild Cheddar cheese
2 tablespoons Imitation Bacon Bits

In a 2-quart casserole, arrange ingredients in layers in the following order:

1. Rice mixed well with corn, half the salt and pepper, bouillon cube and boiling water.

2. of Hunt's® Tomato Sauce that has been mixed with Worcestershire sauce and Italian Seasoning.

3. Chopped onion, green pepper, and celery.

4. Uncooked ground beef, remaining salt and pepper.

5. Remaining Hunt's® Tomato Sauce mixture.

Cover tightly and bake at 375 degrees for 45 minutes.

6. Sprinkle with cheese; bake, uncovered, 15 minutes longer.

7. Top with bacon bits before serving.
