INGREDIENTS
2 or 3 sprigs fresh mint
6 whole cloves
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
1/2 cup lemon juice
2 cups cubed pineapple
1 orange, unpeeled, sliced
2 large bottles Rhine wine or sauterne
1 quart sparkling waterCrush mint leaves and whole cloves with sugar in punch bowl. Add water and lemon juice and stir until dissolved. Add pineapple cubes and orange slices. Just before serving, add large chunk of ice, then wine and sparkling water.
