Print This Recipe

A perfect main dish for an intimate dinner for 2. Complete the menu with a green vegetable or salad, plus your choice of baked potatoes, white and wild rice, or french-fried potatoes (frozen for ease of preparation). Dessert could be ice cream topped with a liqueur.

INGREDIENTS

2 small single-serving size steaks (rib, rib eye, strip, T-bone)
1 garlic clove, halved
1 can (2 to 2-1/2 ounces) sliced mushrooms
1/4 to 1/3 cup beer
1 tablespoon flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
Dash of pepper

Rub meat with cut surface of garlic. Broil 2 to 3 inches from heat until done as desired.

Meanwhile, drain mushroom liquid into measuring cup. Add enough beer to measure 2/3 cup total liquid.

Pour 2 tablespoons steak drippings into a saucepan; stir in flour, salt, and pepper until smooth. Stir in beer mixture. Cook, stirring constantly, until thickened and smooth. Add drained mushrooms; heat through.

Pour beer-mushroom sauce over steak and potatoes.
