Brown Stone Front Cake

INGREDIENTS

2 cups brown sugar
1/2 cup butter
3 egg yolks
1 cup sour milk or buttermilk
1 cup chopped nuts
1/2 teaspoon allspice
1 cup stewed raisins
2-1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
3 egg whites, stiffly beaten

Sift flour and spices together. Add baking soda.

Cream together butter and sugar; add egg yolks and mix well. Add dry ingredients and milk alternately, beginning and ending with dry ingredients. Fold in nuts, raisins, and egg whites.

Bake at 350 degrees until the cake tests done.
