Creamed Dried Beef

This is a quickie meal - and substantial. The meat is so flavorful you only need a little bit to serve a bunch. You can use this recipe for breakfast, lunch, or a light supper.
INGREDIENTS
4 tablespoons butter
1/4 pound dried beef, thinly sliced
1/2 cup water
4 tablespoons flour
2-1/2 cups milkBrown butter in a heavy skillet. Add shredded pieces of dried beef. Brown slightly. Add water and boil until water is evaporated. This helps make the beef tender.
Sprinkle flour over beef and allow to brown slightly. Slowly add milk and cook over low heat, stirring constantly. Cook until smooth and thickened.
Serve over baked potatoes, biscuits, or toast.
