Corn Meal Mush

INGREDIENTS

1 quart boiling water
1 quart cold water
2 cups yellow roasted corn meal
1/2 cup white flour
1 teaspoon salt

Put 1 quart boiling water in a heavy 4-quart saucepan. Combine corn meal, flour, and salt and stir into boiling water.

Slowly add cold water, stirring constantly to prevent lumps.

Cover and cook slowly 1 to 3 hours just so mixture glops slowly.

Serve hot with cherry pie filling or thickened sour cherries and milk.

Makes 2-1/2 quarts

NOTE - Pour remaining mush in bread pan. Next day, slice and fry in oil for breakfast. Serve with molasses or syrup.
